Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker

Best Albums of the Decade: #25.

It’s better to burn out than to fade away.

Never has a cliché been more deserved or more fitting for an artist than Ryan Adams who seems to be able to simultaneously burn out and fade away.  His first album in 2000 was a beautiful, gut-wrenching slice of country music which quickly garnered him fame (in part thanks to Elton John’s recommendations).  Unfortunately, the next 5 years saw him produce progressively poorer albums before eventually joining forces with The Cardinals to produce a series of better-recieved albums.  But he’s never quite reached the heights of his first and most brilliant record.

(Not on Spotify yet unlike the rest of his back catalogue)
