Best Albums of the Decade: #13.
Ten years is a long, long time… so much so that I had completely discounted the earlier Elliott Smith albums from this countdown. However, after spotting this in another end-of-decade-list it had to find a place somewhere. Probably the apex of his work, only three years before his sad death, Figure 8 deserves its place in the list with his distinctive, whispered vocals, layered, lo-fi production and telling tales of addiction and loss.
